That's what I thought but I looked at a book which says it doesn't flower until November.

Ranunculus lappaceus mainly has basal leaves. The flower stalks are tall and branched, and the flowers have 5 petals. The habitat here is not typical of Ranunculus papulentus. It is normally found in damp or muddy places.

These plants have 5-7 petals. The habitat is quite artificial with mud behind rocks and wire mesh. I think there are more plants downstream in muddy vegetated surrounds that are not flowering yet. I will check next time I am over there.
