Author's notes

Leaf or plant hopper. Interesting movements involving a flapping motion - a kind of movement which reminded me of a bird ruffling its feathers. Also when I later referred to photos from the side, I noticed it looked a little like the mouth stylet of a cicada.

This is Platybrachys decemmacula, one of two species in this area. It is distinguished by the colour pattern.

Thanks Michael. I think most of the Genus Platybrachys on CNM were 'lumped' together until more recently. Might be worth going through the sightings and seeing if we can ID them to species level when time permits. Happy for any assistance here. :)

(worth noting that as more collections of the genus are taken, we may find further species involved -- but so far, it has just been the two to my knowledge, and the second species is already rarely collected)
