Thanks for this sighting Jim. Tho it is interesting, we really can't record it as Wild Cattle. But keep this record in your your cache of sightings for future reference.

User's notes

Maybe not “wild” bit sure grazing their way through Rows Lagoon! Thought there was a protected plant species in the areas vulnerable vulnerable to grazing - and the cows in the swamp proper were sure grazing hard! May be private property and the protected species elsewhere - figured worth reporting just in case they broke through a fence.

Hi Jim. Interesting record, but with ear tags and being so friendly, they could not be classified as "Wild Cattle". Were the cattle on private property?

Hi @michaelb
The cows were very much in Rows (otherwise called Rowes) Lagoon. It is fenced off from the public rest-stop but I am not sure if it is actually public land or reserved.
Fully agree that they are not wild, and cannot find anything to suggest that the Lagoon is reserved. Just seems to be the plants requiring protection - https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/savingourspeciesapp/managementsite/278

The lagoon area is leased for grazing. I had to get permission from lessee to go into the fenced area and walk right around the lagoon to do Lathams Snipe surveys (and from memory they removed the cattle on the survey days). Not sure who property owner is since it was sold a couple of years ago

Maybe intermittent grazing is part of the management strategy? In the document you mentioned, Jim, it says "... ensure application of sustainable grazing prescriptions".
