The taxonomic distinction between Leptozestis and Trachydora is not clear. While the two genera have many described species (about 70 in all), only a few of these species have identified specimens in collections. BOLD has 91 Leptozestis bins and 2 Trachydora bins, but only a few of the bins contain a described species, and in some of those cases the bins contain both a Leptozestis and a Trachydora described species. CNM records of Leptozestis-like and Trachydora-like moths are mostly put togther here under "Leptozestis and Trachydora (genera)", except in the few cases where individualspecies can be isolated.
