Status: Native

 

Size: A large, cryptic, nocturnal species that is known to reach about 280 mm in length, although is more commonly observed at lengths of about 150-170 mm. 

 

Description: large olive brown gold grey galaxiids with variable patterning in blotches bands and mottling, large pectoral fins and dark spot behind the pectoral fin.  Small specimens are similar to Mountain Galaxies (G. olidus).

Location: Coastal rivers and streams but has also been recorded recently in the upper Murray Catchment after dispersing over the dividing range through the Snowy Mountain Scheme.
