Salmo salar (Atlantic Salmon)

Status: Introduced.
Description: Adult fish are similar to Brown trout (S. trutta) with silver to olive backs and spots. S. salar has a larger caudal peduncle, tail is more forked and mouth doesn’t extend past the eye. Spots generally don’t have a halo or red colouration to the adipose fin or spots below the lateral line.
Location: Stocked into limited number of waterbodies in the CNM region including Lake Jindabyne.
