If the moderators don't know what these larvae will become, I have collected a few of the larvae in a jar with some of the leaves and will see what eventuates.
We did and as a result we have decided this is a Eucalyptus beetle and not a moth. Interesting. Will do this with other caterpillars.
Is it possible the larvae are from the beetle??
They are destroying the tree as you can see in the accompanying photo.

Hi Kevin, I'm very familiar with this beetle and larvae. This is almost the only beetle I have found on this particular Eucalypt.
