User's notes

I’m wondering whether this might be the withered flowers of the C.Carnea plant that was recorded here in 2014……… there are no other plants around and I wonder if this plant has been unable to survive 7 or so years since then. The dead plant has 5 petals per flower head with obvious outer petals and a “hood”. I wonder what this might mean for the isolated plant that had been recently found on red hill.

I am not sure what that is, but it isn’t an orchid. I think this is some other forb, but I can’t quite place it. Orchid flowers tend to disintegrate pretty quickly, although the stem and ovary will sometimes last several years. Generally the fertilised ovaries are quite distinct and resemble a football-shape cage.
