Several of these green loopers were making quite amess of my mint. One of them is almost certainly what emerged on 7 January (see record 4365763).

For mine doesn't match particularly well the photos of caterpillars of C. eriosama on Lepidoptera Butterfly House (although the headparts look similar), but caterpillars can change their appearance as they age. I defer to my colleague donhe for his opnion. PS Caterpillars of several types are assaulting my vegetable garden this year too.

Some Plusiinae species larvae appear to have variable markings such as pale lines and black lateral dots. Possibly these vary with instar. I have found the larvae of several species impossible to distinguish. Until there has been more study, photography, and documentation, each will have to be reared to the adult moth to determine the species.
