Egg-laying is not normally observed in the ACT for this species, and there is no successful breeding record for the ACT for this species.

Hi RodDeb, great series of images and brilliant that you recorded some breeding activity! This species is not known to have any successful breeding records in the ACT, so would it be possible for you to return to this plant and check on the progress of the egg/s? Do you know what species the plant is?

Hi Suzi, thanks for your kind comment, we do not know the species of plant we will try to find out, the plants were on the edge of the Eastern Mallee area (section 211) near the first walkway entrance. We will try and check on the eggs next time we go to the ANBG but there were multiple plants laid on, have you any idea how long they take to hatch? Cheers Deb & Rod

Hi Suzi, we went to the ANBG again today 4 Nov 2020 and looked for eggs on the plants unfortunately it was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. However there were larger plants there that looked (to us) the same type of plant and we were able to find one with a name tag which was:
Senna artemisioides S. Zygophylla. It has a yellow flower. We did take more photos of the plant so if you like we can email them to you but won't list them here as obviously they are not wild. Sorry we could not be of more help in finding the butterfly eggs.
