Hi Julia This insect is very difficult to ID from the photos. You are apparently very keen to learn about insects etc. I want to say in the kindest way possible that to help us with ID'ing and for you own education you would get much more satisfaction if you purchased a reasonable quality camera. You can get a decent one with a macro & zoom lens for a few hundred dollars. You are putting in some potentially some very interesting sightings but we can't ID them. See the bit about photographing on this page: https://canberra.naturemapr.org/Categories/Guide/433 Love your enthusiasm. Michael
:) Thanks Michael - sorry for the photos and thanks for the push. Problem is the cameras are large to lug around and I often just have my phone with me, poking around in the bush when I spot something interesting. I will look into getting the camera if it is helpful - I have no idea if these are useful sightings to you or not so your feedback that the are interesting is all the push I need to up my game. Indeed taxonomy was a surprising favourite subject in second year Zoo :) So I do love to learn about them :) Thanks for your feedback :)
