Nice ID skills, Bron!
Clear resemblance of the female C. trilobata pictured on the top right of p. 71 of Whyte & Anderson's guide: dark/black body with a bright orange strip along the three-lobed-abdomen. Please note that revisions of Cyclosa should be explored as they come - to clarify ID - as ID among Cyclosa spp is thought to currently lack precision. It also specifically says under the photos identified as C. trilobata, that "This species, here identified under one name, could well be many species."

Thanks Yumi Sounds like it should be revised as well but there's a dearth of taxonomists and so many species!

Hi Yumi. Have you noticed that there are two entries for this species in the Field Guide? One has a hyphen in three-lobed and the other doesn't. Your two recent IDs have gone into one, but a previous sighting (3392457) is in the other. As a moderator, are you able to merge these two? It's so good to have an enthusiastic spider moderator looking at these sightings. Thanks, Cath

Oh, you're right! I hadn't noticed (whoever made the second mustn't have realised there already was one either). Thanks a lot for keeping an eye out and letting me know!! They both seem to have the same information on the species page so I will move your sighting to the "Three-lobed spider" page (rather than move two sightings to the other one) and remove the other species page. Thanks again :)
