I have seen a pair in this tree three times this week: today female was in hollow and male guarding. She remained there for several minutes until I had to leave. Earlier in the week, the pair was shrieking furiously at lorikeets looking into the hollow (will add this as a separate sighting) and I also saw them arriving in the same tree at 8.15pm one evening. This evening I staked the tree out. A pair arrived in the next tree at 8.20pm, but I did not see them fly to the hollow, although I stayed until dark. Possibly they were deterred by my presence, or they are just returning to an unsuccessful nest hollow, but I will keep an eye on it.
