Seemed to be attending some kind of scale lined up along the leaf veins. Not sure what the smaller yellow dots are.

Hi Cath, great photos. You can tell it is Camponotus suffusus rather than Camponotus aeneopilosus by the red legs, which you can see well in your photos.
