This is a rare bee with a remnant? or probably more likely re-introduced? population at the Botanic Gardens

User's notes

Maybe Xylocopa aeratus? Seen briefly next to the main walking/road track, walking uphill on the left hand side, with little lawn on opposite right hand side. I've forgotten the name of the bush - Scented Anchrea or something?( I've butchered the name here). Heaps of MacLeay Swallowtails (20+) feeding energetically on the same bush and other usual honeybees.

I've just read the article previously suggested by Michael M so yes, the tree is Scented Acronychia.

Great find. Same flower species as my first record last year. I checked the Acronychia last week but did not see the bee. Observations on where this bee is nesting still needed. How many Xylocopa are there in the gardens?
