This is a now very rare bee that was once widespread. This is a new location within the gardens, which is the only known regional location of this bee. See this article by Roger Farrow for more information https://friendsanbg.org.au/sites/default/files/pdf/News86Aug17.pdf

First one I have observed in the ANBG. Fast moving - difficult to get better photo.

I was at the gardens last week inspecting the various plants in flower for the Xylocopa, including the Persoonia shown in this photo, but no sightings. So good to see that it is still breeding there.somewhere. Keep an eye out for the bee on the Acronychia littoralis when it comes into flower next month at the edge of the rainforest gully.
