The damselfly was found on the ground after a recent cold night, too cold to move. It eventually warmed up in the sunlight and flew off. Additional close-up detail of the damselfly is provided in follow-up sighting 4260637.
A very interesting and very late record of a female Inland Ringtail. Is the location marker indicative of where you took the (staged) photos or where the insect was found (if different). If the former, can you move the marker to the actual sighting location.
Hi Harvey, the damselfly location marker is correct. The damselfly was placed onto a table adjacent to where I found it and photographed there. Hope this helps. Tim
Even more interesting. Looks like you're about 500 m from Ginninderra Creek and a km from the dam wall. Otherwise in the middle of the suburbs. This species appears to be irregular in the ACT, but there has been a bit of a rash of them late this season, scattered across various Canberra sites, mainly small 'farm' dams in various Canberra Nature Parks. It seems to me they are quite dispersive, verging on nomadic. Yours is the second suburban record I know of this season.
