You need decent closeups of the stamens to be sure of the id. There are several genera of yellow lilies in the CNM area.

Hi Max
I think it is one of the Golden Weathergrasses, Hypoxis hygrometrica but as Betty suggested a close-up of the flower with stamens would probably shed a light on the species. Unfortunately, the main photo is blurred. We don't have Golden Weathergrass on our Floralist so this would be a new record. Do you think you can find it again?

I will have s go at refinding it. Unfortunately I didn't realise the photo was blurred up close when I took it. I have not seen this species on Mt Majura / the Fair before. But probably not flowering anymore now ?

It definitely looks like Hypoxis - they've been flowering quite widely in the region after all the rain we've had.

I went back and found these plants again. New photos loaded clearly show 6 Anthers, therefore think it's Hypoxis / Golden weather grass. Found a lot more of this species about 50 m further, a field full of them ! Yeah...

Hm
the Census of Vascular Plants 2019 lists 2 varieties: H. hygrometrica var. hygrometrica and H. hygrometrica var. villosisepala.
Max do you think you will find them again and could dig out a specimen for id by botanist? they are not endangered and your comments indicate quite a large number. However they might be not visible now as you took the photos of flowering plants back in March. So perhaps for the time being we stick with H hygrometrica.
