Any chance of a photo of the caterpillar head and thorax when it pops them out to feed or walk?

Thanks, I will try.

Your tower caterpillar may have died, pupated, or emerged long ago.
Was it not there before? Has it since moved from its original spot?

Don - Sorry, the casemoth has been moving about but I still cannot get a photo with its head out. After comparing leaves I have edited this sighting, as I now know the tree is a Cherry Ballart, not a casuarina.

Jacky, Not sure if this helps but I have had a couple of case moths (not tower) in my back yard, I found that they tended to be on the move once the sun hit them mid-morningish, but then tended to settle in the same place in the greater heat of the afternoon.

Alison thanks so much, I have been going past it whenever I can and it is still moving around the sapling, but I have still never seen it with its head out and it is so tiny I doubt I could get a photo with my camera in any case. It is only about 1m off ground, so If anyone else wants to try I can show them where it is. I have looked carefully in other larger Cherry Ballarts nearby and cannot see any others. Cheers, Jacky
