Scratches in termite mounds, too large and high for echidna.

I'm happy to accept it is a Varanus but I'm not sure we can go as far as rosenbergi without supporting evidence. Have you seen any of either species in the area before?

Never seen varius there are rosenbergi records from just across the Federal hwy at Bywong

Right kind of termites, Nasutitermes. Kangaroos also scratch mounds high above ground but claw marks tend not to start in a line like these. So I agree w John Wombey. There is a recent V. varius record from 13 km to the north west, so neither local goanna species can be ruled out.
