Significant sighting

15 Jan 2019

PTWL was recorded in 1998 and 2008 high on the western side of Black Mountain, but we are unsure how widespread the lizard is on the mountain - great to get another sighting

This is a great record. It is only the second site for the PTWL in Black Mountain NR. It is unusual because most records of the species are from volcanic or metamorphic rock types. Can you let us know if the lizard was found under a stone or log? WillO.

Hi Will - i'm not much of a geologist - but the stone it was under was a triangular prism sitting flat circa 100 mm thick (300 mm along the longest edge) - more like a shale to me than a volcanic or metamorphic rock. The locality on the map here is pretty much spot-on.
