There is not enough clear detail in the images to place this in a family. As a cover all I would just put it in the order Boletales or just Boletaceae!!? Note the white patch on the cap is most probably a Hypomyces sp., a parasitic fungus (an Ascomycota) that 'bolete' type fungi and Russulaceae seem to be particularly susceptible to.

Pam, like you say, not enough detail. I had even been unsure as to whether this was in the boletes or was it in fact one of the hard rubbery polypores - like a Laccocephalum in texture (though I'm not claiming it's that genus). It's the underside view that first prompted that thought.

I agree the undersurface looks, from what can be seen, a bit different. It was the red colour in the cap that influenced me and the white 'mould' on the cap (very unscientific!). My only thoughts on Laccocephalum and the like is that I thought they came in various shades of brown. However your local knowledge would be clearer on that than mine. The joys and challenges of trying to identify from images alone...............

I think I'll follow your unscientific white mould argument and assume this is a bolete.
