Significant sighting

20 Feb 2015

This is a highly invasive plant, currently only occurring in a few locations in the ACT. It is one that we have a chance of eradicating if new infestations are promptly recorded

User's notes

Patch of Spanish heath in Isaacs pines, gradually being eliminated.

ACT Parks just removed the plants. 11 in total over a 200m area.

Great news that you guys acted so promptly to Mike's report - hopefully we will be able to eradicate Spanish Heath from the ACT, let's all keep our eyes out for it.

The numbers are coming down but new plants keep sprouting. I have been working on this for a few years, removed 65 in 2013, probably 24 in 2014. It just needs monitoring to make sure no seedlings reach flowering stage.

I have removed 63 seedlings. So much for my thought that numbers were decreasing. Most were in an area less than half square metre so might have succumbed to overcrowding, but it's a site to keep an eye on.
