This is the first record of this species in the Canberra area. A quote from Dr Bob Mesibov: "Gigantowales chisholmi is quite common in the coastal forests but there are no previous records for it in the ACT. It's highly unlikely that such a large and conspicuous millipede escaped the attention of ACT collectors in past decades. It's more likely it's been delivered to the ACT along the Kings Highway from somewhere to the east."

User's notes

Maybe a bit longer than 50mm

Hi Christine
Just checking the size of this millipede. You say a bit longer than 50mm, which is quite big, but you also said in the additional information that it was 25-50mm.
Can you please confirm the size?

Hi Michael, sorry, I am still not good with mm. The sighting was a while ago, but I do remember it, and remember that it was a big millipede. So I will say definitely longer than 50mm, but not heaps longer. Possibly 60-70mm.
