User's notes

I've been doing a bit of background reading on these socalled "Resurrection" Moss /Plants. I've learned a new term : POIKILOHYDRIC ! Since there are quite a lot of Bryophytes and even some Vascular plants which have Adaptations for this ability, (I have read), it's not realistic to expect to ID this moss species from these photos. Close-up micro details are needed (for most mosses & other Bryophytes). Previous Comment : Significantly changes texture & colour when dampened with water. Growing on sunny open rocky scree, by trackside. Quite common in this vicinity.

A nice example of a local biological soil crust, with mixed bryophytes/lichens (the abundant pale lichen being a species of Xanthoparmelia). A closer photo may sometimes allow a good guess at a moss genus.

Hi Heino , Thanks for your feedback , Appreciated. I realised my error in taking this photo. (See my notes below). Too much of a hurry ( to keep up with our group that day). Next time will use the Macro / magnifying setting for mosses/lichens.
