Miniopterus orianae oceanensis (Eastern Bent-wing, Large Bent-wing Bat)

Declared vulnerable in NSW and Victoria. This species has recently been renamed to Miniopterus orianae oceanensis or the large bent-winged bat, from Miniopterus schreibersii subsp. oceanensis or the eastern bent-wing bat.

Following Appleton et al. (2004) and Tian et al. (2004), the distribution of Miniopterus schreibersii is restricted to Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, whereas M. orianae is the taxon recognized in Australasia.
