Austrosalomona species 9 (A katydid)
Members of this genus have previously been only recorded from the coast and tropical rainforest. There is only one specimen of A. sp no 9 in ANIC collected at Evans Head by David Rentz in 1979 so its undoubtedly rarely seen. Like most Tettigonids it is probably nocturnal which may account for the fact that it’s rarely seen or collected. By day it hides in plants in folded leaves and the like. Its not known how it got to the ANBG or if it is part of a pre-exisiting breeding population.
