Significant sighting

Potential to become a major weed - important that initial small outbreaks such as this are eradicated while that is still feasible

The lack of rhizome (root-like storage organ) and the ascending habit (initially growing close to the ground and then growing vertically) make this Brachyscome diversifolia rather than Leucanthemum vulgare. You are among many that have pulled up the native species by mistake.
The purplish tips to the bracts at the back of the flower head is a plus for IDing. Not all B. diversifolia flower heads have it.

Hi, I am interested in this as after pulling a B. diversifolia is the past I looked closer and the bracts look distinctly like ox eye in some of the papers I have read on the ecology of the species, as well as online pics. Hope I’m wrong but have retained the specimen just in case!

I thought I had confirmed it the first time round. The connection between my iPad and the CNM site is extremely slow.
With respect to the involucral bracts. I went on the descriptions of the two species in Vicflora. The description of the bracts of B. diversifolia in Vicflora is very detailed, including the length/width 6.5-10.5 mm x 1-4 mm. Its description of the bracts of L. vulgare only includes the shape (lanceolate) and the length - 3-8 mm. Not quite as clearcut a difference as I hoped.

Steve Taylor has confirmed this as ox-eye daisy and specimen has been lodged in herbarium.
