User's notes

For years I've admired the silver gulls hovering at Parliament House at this time of year, a beautiful sight, but never put two and two together to realise they were feasting on Bogongs. In reality this is an ecological massacre rather than a spectacle(!) Roughly 200-300 silver gulls I'd guess, maybe more. How many Bogongs can a gull eat in a night???

They are certainly feeding on moths, I suggest. I may be corrected, but I think this one is Agrotis munda.

There is a good chance there are plenty of Bogongs at Parliament House at the moment - if only us moth watchers can beat the Silver Gulls to any that may be there!
