Ho Canberragal, this is a fairly early Rosy for this season. Can you provide the altitude please? And if you see it feeding anytime before mid-November, I'd love to hear. cheers

Altitude was approx 1400m. I don't expect to be up there again before mid November. I'm no expert but I think it's a Rosy. It wasn't frightened of us but slow moving. A large wedge-tailed eagle was approaching, saw us, then turned around and flew away. I'm not sure if it was after the Rosy ....

Hi Canberragal, Yes its 100% Rosenberg's Goanna. Narrow stripes on all of its tail. Tree Goannas (common on the coast) have broad bands on the outer half of the tail. I was trapping for Rosies on the valley floor below this last week. I heard Cord Civil workers had seen one up on the range above - maybe this is even the same one!

Update: Barrie also posted a record of this animal at this distinctive rock, not knowing you had done so already. I commented 'Records in that area are rare. There is only one other RG record for quite a few km in any direction. Probably reflecting that few people go there and few of those post to CNM.' So many thanks, to both of you, for recording it.
