Hi Jon, decided to add one more, though not a good photo. There were three very different ants on this tree - Green-headed ant, the smaller reddish (meat?) ant, and this, even smaller black ant. I am never able to get decent photos of these smaller and often fast moving black ants. Thanks again.

H Christine, from the shape of the head this is likely to be Anonychomyrma, but can't be sure from the photo. It's certainly a small one. Ants are certainly a problem to photograph - it's so much easier to get pictures of things that stay still! Cheers, Jon
