Almost impossible to ID eggshells without knowing what bird the nest belongs to.

User's notes

We thought this looked like a rosella eggshell. I am sure it was not there until recently. Sorry, I know you probably cannot ID it, but I thought I should post it due to odd timing.

Regarding the timing, it probably could well have hatched months ago and only now been ejected by another bird/mammal that may have taken a liking to the hollow.

Ryu - thanks. I should have added that it was on open grass and not near any hollow-bearing trees.

Ravens will often take and carry eggs, but without knowing the species, type of nest, etc it's hard to reach any conclusions about how it might have got there now.
