User's notes

Single individual in flower. Much greener than the flowers in another colony, sighting 4207474. This individual was growing in an open, grassy valley, unlike 4207474 which was growing on a well-shaded slope with a dense understory. Unlike my other sighting, the petals of this plant form a broader 'hood' and the lateral sepals are much finer and longer, lacking the darkish 'clubs'. Labellum visibly more 'striped' in this individual rather than solid black. The sinus appears to jut forward a little more on this individual. Jean and I hypothesized that this is the same species as 4207474, but exhibiting different characteristics due to the difference in environment.

Aha yes this looks more like P alveata! Will wait to hear from DLJ & MAC before confirming.

Jean contacted DLJ. "I sent photos from yesterday to David Jones, and after wanting more details such as size and location, and different views of the orchids, he has IDed D atrans on the slope, D alveatum, the smaller
ones in the clearing, and A pusillus."

So this sighting, and the other one with 5 plants that are mostly green, are the ones referred to as P alveata?
MattM wrote:

Yes. The green ones are alveata and the reddish one is atrans. Sorry, I should have been more specific.

Nope, that's all good. I'll change these to P alveata now.
