Some Fuligo species do present in form exactly like the above images with the lighter coloured spore mass, but unless one does the microscopy its impossible to ID to species. I found one down at Bournda a few years ago and was certain it was 'different' but after many hours of work it turned out to be Fuligo septica var. flava. So, if possible, can you collect a specimen? It would be a very interesting exercise to work on.
