Maybe a bit larger. Possibly applying for a job as a street sweeper??

The 2 red glands put it in Lymantriidae.
Can you take it into protective custody, rear it to get a moth,
then take the moth back and release it where it came from
(taking a photo of the moth first)?

No I can't. It was a long way from home, and a long walk, and I will not be going back there in the near future. Even if I went back tomorrow I doubt I would find it again!
Maybe Lymantriidae will have to be good enough.
