Were the leaves and stems sticky and smelly? The common name of Dittrichia graveolens is Stinkwort.

Definitely stinkwort - sticky and smelly. Dittrichia graveolens was top suggestion for photo posted to iNaturalist.org which has automatic identification suggestions.
