Significant sighting

  19 Feb 2019

Superb Parrots have been noticeably increasing their presence in South Canberra in the last few years. Locating roost sites is important for their conservation. Come October we would particularly like to have reported any sightings of birds seen entering or looking into hollows.

Author's notes

Many thanks Ryu Callaway for spotting this roost. I think at least fifty parrots flying in after 7.30 pm, both in small flocks of 8-12 and family groups. Flying in from more than one direction, lots of calling and flying between trees before settling to roost in several different trees. Last blurry photo shows adult male feeding young. Sorry about photo quality.
