I presume that on previous visits there you have never seen E. dallachyana, which even when in flower is difficult to tell from drummondii.

Hi Betty, I have to confess to making an assumption with this one. I've keyed them out from various sites on the ST in the past and it has always been drummondii (and Vol 1 of the Flora doesn't have ST for dallachyana). I have photos of dallachyana from the Hunter Valley and they looks different, with the leaves much less crowded (assuming I identified them correctly, but the photos show fruits are present, so hopefully I did).

The problem is that the Census of Vascular Plants ACT (2017)
https://www.anbg.gov.au/cpbr/ACT-census-2017/index.html
has only dallachyana. Have a look at the CNM sightings round Canberra. They automatically go in as dallachyana because of that.

Oh dear, well that's a nuisance. Apart from the Mt Painter one, which is a bit lanky (maybe because it is growing after fire), they all look like typical drummondii to me. I see drummondii is in the list, with one sighting (yours) from Bungonia. This is a pretty silly state of affairs, with the name of the plant changing with a political boundary. I'll leave it to you to work out how to deal with it, just pointing out that my sighting is not in the ACT!

Yep, well that's about all you can do in the circumstances eh?
