Another different nest/behaviour situation at a known site. this time the ants had a track right across the road (maybe 4m) totally exposed. We had to do the crush test to confirm the id, but then noticed that the tack then went into a length of the usual nest material, about 30cm of it just on top of the ground. Again, any comment?

Building material might wash off the road. It would need something to hold on to. A covered way would be easier to build than a tunnel.
