Author's notes

I've got one last orchid photo that I'd like to get sorted as to whether it is cycnocephalus or crassicaulis. I can't find a source to tell me what the difference is, as PlantNet mentions crassicaulis but does not include it in their key. This was somewhere on Snowy Plain, elevation roughly 1360m (location on map is approximate).

Thick stem, crowded flowers and location all suggest H. crassicaulis

OK, thanks for the tip. So cycnocephalus is generally at lower elevation, not alpine or subalpine at all?

According to the Field Guide to Orchids of the ACT, crassicaulis occurs between 1050 and 1850 m and cycnocephalus from 50 to 800 m.

Sounds like the challenge is on to find a Hymenochilus between 800 and 1050m then!
