Significant sighting

This a rare cicada with a quite localised, restricted distribution in the region. See comments by Lindsay Popple.

User's notes

This is the "type 2" cicada I found on Black Mountain. The song is similar to Atrapsalta furcilla but much faster. The two types were singing in the same habitat and there was no noticeable overlap. I could not see any differences in temperature or elevation that might have explained the different speed. Is this a different species?

First record for Canberra Nature Map. The recording helped to confirm the ID, thanks. Great work! This is quite a localised, restricted cicada in the region.
