Mike do you think these have bene planted or are a garden escapee?

Garden waste, like most of the invasive plants along Long Gully Road.

Mike this actually looks like Thyme, a herb. Did you smell it? Did it smell like Thyme?

Definitely not Lobularia, which has 4 approximately equal petals. This plant has 2-lobed flowers, the upper lobe entire, the lower lobe with three lobes. Any chance of getting better more detailed photos of the flowers and leaves?

It was starting to rain (an uncommon event) and I was trying to keep the camera dry so I took a guess based on the habit and overall appearance.

Natureguy is right. This is thyme (checked the smell) but it is a different species from what I have in my garden. Perhaps not a common garden escape so call it Thymus sp.

I've finally checked the herbarium specimen I collected from the plant; it keys straight out in the Horticultural Flora of south-eastern Australia.
