Hi Will, this was found at just over 1000 metres in elevation in the rocks next to Middle Creek. So would this be right on the edge of its altitudinal range?

Hi Griffr - yes that is getting high for this species - from memory I have seen them pretty high up on the climb to Nursery Swamp but probably lower than 1000m . I have actually seen its relative (Black Rock Skink) much higher, to the lower edge of the subalpine zone (for example on the north western side of Mt Gingera at about 1700 m so that species does go quite a bit higher). I should note that juvenile black rock skinks lack the white dots seen on Cunninghams Skink and do not have a spiky tail.
