Possibly Chloroclytis catasticta (a variable sp) or nearby sp. (System won't accept a new name just now)

Hi Glenn
Sorry the "suggest a missing species" is not working. You can still add a new species if you go thru Admin.

I can find no Chloroclytis catasticta in the Checklist or ALA or BOLD or AFD.
Are you sure that is the spelling?
Do you mean Lophosigna catasticta (Turner, 1904)
(previously known as Gastrina catasticta)?

Sorry, I think I mutated catastreptes but I'll have to double check.

I think it looks more like a Chrysolarentia species, maybe C. cataphaea?
How do you tell a Chloroclytis from a Chrysolarentia?

Choroclystis not Chloroclytis. C. catoststreptes looks similar on Bold Systems 4 but perhaps not the same.

Oops: a lot of misprints around here.
The second line of Chloroclystis catastreptes does not the big double bubble like 3410727 has.
How do you tell a Chloroclystis from a Chrysolarentia?

To my eye, this photo comes closest to Chloroclystis catastreptes. Some elements of the wing pattern correspond well, and I think I can see the “double bubble” (if we’re talking about the same thing) in some of the ANIC specimens, although they are all more worn than specimen in the photo. Chloroclystis insigillata is the next best prospect. The photo is much browner than any of the ANIC specimens of either species, but that could be caused by fading of the ANIC specimens or too much warm brown in the photo settings. Chrysolarentia generally have broader forewings than Chloroclystis and the specimen in the photo, and that is so for Chrysolarentia cataphaea. I’m confident the photo is of a Chloroclystis sp rather than a Chrysolaretia. But I can’t say it certainly is C. catastreptes, so I’ve changed the suggestion to Chloroclystis sp, and it remains possible that it is another Larentiinae species altogether.
