User's notes

This small lizard is a regular visitor to our front yard and has been seen many times over the past few months. I have only ever seen one specimen so assume a solitary animal. For a lizard it seems quite at ease with people and will not immediately dash away when sighted. Has been seen on the ground and climbing through our hedge. Review of other sightings I think this is a Nobbi Dragon.

Nobbi & Jacky lizards are difficult to tell apart apart from looking in their mouths. No Nobbi are known from your area. You might read the descriptions of each to determine which species of dragon that you have. GeoffR

It's interesting that you went straight to nobbi rather than Jacky Lizard in the first instance. As Geoff says, they are difficult to tell apart unless you can see inside the mouth and breeding nobbi males can also have a red flush at the base of the tail. As it is a regular visitor you may be able to catch it long enough to get a photograph of the inside of the mouth. Flesh pink for nobbi and bright orange/yellow for the Jacky Lizard.

Thanks for the confirmation of the species we have sighted in our front yard. We'll continue to monitor and I will see if we can get a look at the inside of the mouth. Otherwise I'm very excited that the work I have done around the yard is becoming a bit of a haven for the local fauna, even if sometimes the locals are no so friendly (I also submitted a sighting of a scorpion that had made its way into the house last night).
