This is an american species of very high weed potential - please be on the look out for any further sightings

The other possibilities are Alisma lanceolata, which has lance shaped leaves, and Damasonium minus, the fruits of which are triangular.

Sagittaria platyphylla seems more likely. As for the other sighting I had my doubts about the ID of Alisma plantago-aquatica at the time, but didn't know an alternative.
