The antennae, head & colouring are different to other Porrostoma sp.(genus) specimens. I am curious as to what Kim will conclude for this one.

Me too! I considered all that but still suggested Porrostoma anyway. Happy for it to be a different related genus.

It looks a bit similar to my sighting 3384399 from last month.

A good mimic of Porrostoma, but lacks the long snout. The pronotum (behind the head) is not as sculptured as in Porrostoma, and the antennae are characteristic, wide in the middle then narrowing.

PS nice shot Harvey. Easy to see the salient features.

I wasn't expecting it would be an entirely different family, though!. Thanks Kim.

OMG - not even the same superfamly. Is in Tenebrionoidea according to ALA, whereas Lycidae is in Elateroidea (though they were in Cucujoidea and Cantharoidea respectively according to my ancient CSIRO The Insects of Australia (1973 reprint). Times change.

Beetle classification is never static! I usually go by the AFD, which they try to keep up to date with changes.
