Hi Christine
How big was this creature?

Hi Michael, unfortunately I did not record the size of this one. It was the day after two days of extremely heavy rains, and I had gone out to see how everything was, and discovered dead weebill nestlings in the nest, so was a bit upset. It could have been the same as the one recorded a year earlier in a nearby location (see 3383770), and I may have just thought Ah, another one of those. It does look (to me) pretty similar, but I realise I have not recorded enough information about this one. I do have anther photo (from above but slightly out of focus) if you think that would help?

Paradoxosomatidae ID by Dr Robert Mesibov. He said "but I'm afraid the image quality isn't good enough to go any further". So I don't know if the extra image would help.
Millipede species are hard to distinguish from one-another, and to identify to species normally requires a close look at the minute bodyparts of the animal, and usually the 'gonopods' of an adult male.

Michael, I have added a second image, but happy to leave the id as it is as i have not provided enough information. Thanks for your info, I understand the difficulty in identification, but do not think I will capture and try to get different angles if i see them again. I will try to be more specific about the size though.
