User's notes

Leaves to 3m, 20mm wide. Seedhead 15cm x 3cm dia. Gap between male and female segments 10 to 15 mm.

For Typha domingensis the female seed-head is usually less than 2cm in diameter.

I was going by the leaf width, which is obviously not a good indicator.

The easiest is the colour of the female spike - chestnut brown in Typha orientalis, cinnamon brown in Typha domingensis according to Vicflora. https://vicflora.rbg.vic.gov.au/flora/key/2087
