This weevil appears capable of causing significant dieback in both Ribbon Gum (E. viminalis) and Apple Box (E. bridgesiana). The ACT Government would appreciate recordings of any sightings

User's notes

Weevil like casing observed on Eucalyptus viminalis trees displaying marked 'dieback' in Naas valley. Noted and widespread on almost all E. viminalis individuals and many E. bridgesiana, one E. rubida throughout valley - all displaying signs of dieback ranging from mild to severe. Casings observed widely, but on one leaf a small green larvae observed (unfortunately not photographed) This image recorded at UTM grid reference 55 S 688532E 6043105N (WGS84) but image not geotagged so unable to

I have seen it a number of times along the river north of Tharwa. I concluded it was relatively common there, see sighting:
